LinkedIn: Searching Is Now a Bit Easier

Careerists at all stages rely upon LinkedIn to connect, interact and research.  As LinkedIn has grown, searching can yield vast results.  Fortunately, LinkedIn has listened to members and continuously identifies ways to optimize the overall LinkedIn experience, including searching for people and jobs.  Take a look at three recent LinkedIn improvements.

Searching All Degrees of Your Network

Previously, to search people outside of your immediate connections was exclusive to Premium LinkedIn members. However, in 2015 LinkedIn is enabling all members to find targets 1st, 2nd  or even 3rd-degree networks.  This extension is quite powerful and takes your search much further.

Searching with Name Variations

There are so many different ways to spell a name. You met someone at a meeting named “Megan.”  Or, is it “Megyn,” “Meagan,” or maybe “Meghan?”   Now LinkedIn can help you find that person.  LinkedIn can present results that are most likely in your range of interest based on your connections, companies, or groups you may share with the search target.

Improved Job Search Results

In the past if you searched for jobs or people, you might have an overwhelming response that is not easily parsed.  The improved LinkedIn presents results are tailored to the searcher.  In other words, when you search for a job, LinkedIn considers your current and past jobs in order to display relevant jobs. Searches are more refined, and the information is more relevant.

LinkedIn is an excellent place to research opportunities, gather current knowledge, connect with others, and communicate. It is also a tool to access and pursue opportunities. With these new updates, LinkedIn is simpler to use than before. Check out LinkedIn’s new search capabilities as you move toward your next opportunity.
