Résumé Help – Sales & Business Development Quota Achiever

Today’s Résumé Help focuses on the résumé of an unemployed sales and business development manager who needs to reposition herself if she is going to successfully re-enter the workplace.  Ellen has had an outstanding track record of quota attainment in the past. However, due to a personal family crisis, she left her role in 2009.

Unfortunately for her, being currently unemployed will make her less attractive to hiring managers. For this reason, it is absolutely critical that Ellen add the following missing components to her résumé to offset this challenge:

  1. A bold headline that immediately catches attention and lets readers know what her focus is. For Example: SALES & BUSINESS DEVELOPENT MANAGER
  2. She might also benefit from a branding statement underneath this. For Example: Proven Quota Achiever Skilled at Building Profitable Business Relationships
  3. Next, Ellen should add a summary paragraph with about 4-6 lines of content that touches upon her hard sales and business development skills, her soft skills including interpersonal communications and relationship building, and her achievements over all as a top producer.
  4. Before launching into her work experience, Ellen should generate a brief list of core competancies or key words that can be viewed at a glance. For example: Cold Calling ~ Pipeline Growth ~ Upselling ~ New Product Introduction, etc.
