Resume Summary and Accomplishments

Q. I listened in on the webinar you conducted last week on financial résumé writing, which was quite informative. Do you find that the overall content of resumes differs between various industries such as technology, engineering, healthcare, etc.?  I was wondering if one needs to have a summary section and highlight key accomplishments throughout their résumé in these other industries.

A. The summary section should be created to include compelling information.  Using accomplishments is important throughout the entire document to help keep the reader engaged. It does not matter what industry one works in.

Hiring managers always want to see achievements as a means to determining potential contributions. The industry may influence content, but a compelling, results focused resume is important regardless of industry.
