Branding Yourself - Digital Identity for Career Growth

When it comes to branding strategies for career advancement, there are several exciting ways for today’s job seeker to create a unique presence and establish a digital identity.

Online digital résumés are a great addition to personal branding / professional branding because they allow for a more detailed glimpse into the attributes that make your brand one of a kind. Because digital résumés are multimedia, they can include pictures, audios, videos, charts & graphs, awards, and recommendations.

To get really creative when establishing a professional brand, some job seekers generate a customized personal website as part of their promotional and professional branding efforts.

We offer our clients both options; and we are finding most professionals tend to prefer the more simplistic branding strategy of the two, choosing the digital résumé. It is less complex and users can obtain similar results.

Currently there are several digital résumé companies on the market that allow for the creation a multi-dimensional online presence, offering the opportunity to develop an online brand that can be easily modified and maintained. I have recently become enamored with a site called DoYouBuzz.

While the name belies what they do, DoYouBuzz, is a user friendly (and very cool) marketing tool that allows users to basically create an entire web based portfolio of information dedicated to career skills and experience.  It takes a lot of the guesswork out of the process, particularly for those that may be technically challenged - like me, for instance!

Unlike a traditional résumé, the DoYouBuzz résumé allows candidates to demonstrate past results and bring their skills to life. A video introduction or video résumé can even be included as a component of this new variation of the online résumé. The versatility is incredible because job seekers can establish a three dimensional view of themselves that even the most well written résumé cannot provide.

Don’t expect the traditional résumé to go away any time soon, but the digital online résumé is becoming so popular that Careers Done Write recently brought aboard a graphic artist to create compelling visual content that maximizes branding opportunities for our clients.

Digital résumés really allow candidates to showcase themselves in a whole new way and can be highly effective when they are properly created and promoted.
