Résumé Help: Professional Experience Revamp

The professional experience section is critical because it backs up the promise a candidate makes in the profile summary and core competencies (areas of expertise) sections. This is the candidate’s opportunity to present the scope of his or her responsibility and examples of specific accomplishments.  It is important to quantify the responsibility and the accomplishments.  By quantifying these items, it makes them more concrete and it shows the level of success. By sharing this information, it will take the Résumé to the next level.

In today’s résumé example, we see several problems.  There are some typographical and formatting items needing attention.  The profile summary and areas of expertise sections could be improved.  If you read the comments on the example below, you can see those simple items awaiting a quick fix.  However, Richard needs to spend a bit of time considering his career history to uncover valuable information for inclusion in his professional experience section.  The time he takes to develop this professional experience content will pay off when he begins to receive invitations for interviews.  If you are in the same position, consider working with a professional résumé writer.  Or, continue to read more entries in this blog to help you along the way.
