Résumé Help – Chartered Financial Analyst - MBA

Today we are reviewing the résumé of a recent MBA graduate based in Canada who is in the process of completeing his CFA Level III designation.  Jeff has 2 years of practical experience, in addition to his education and training. He mistakenly references this 2 years of experience as part of his unique selling proposition (USP).

If a hiring manager is looking for a skilled candidate, they generally want to see a bit more experience so announcing in the first sentence of a résumé that you have 2 years’ experience is not advisable. Instead Jeff should start his résumé by creating a compelling headline and branding statement that will position him as a Financial Analyst and let hiring managers know immediately what his strong suit is.
