Speaking Negatvely About Your Last Employer?

Dear Deb:

If you are asked what you liked least about your last employer, what would be the best way to frame an answer so that you are not speaking negatively of them?

Thank You,
Jim

Hi Jim:
You should never speak poorly about your past employer - ever. This is a cardinal sin. If asked such a question, you can simply state that you had a good experience in the role. You learned a lot from your manager and do not have anything negative to share about the company or your time spent there. You can also add that you decided to pursue a new opportunity as you felt there was not a clearly defined path for growth aligned with your personal and professional development plan.
I hope that helps!
Deb
