Résumé Help: From Never Read to Get Ahead

If I had dozens of résumés to review online or on paper, Marcella’s résumé would not be read.  It would take me too much time to sort through the dense language to uncover her skills and achievements. Marcella’s C+ résumé  could be transformed into an A+ résumé  in three simple steps.

Step One:

Make it more visually appealing, which will also make it easier on the reader's eyes.  We can accomplish this through more white space and a larger font.

Step Two:

Revamp the profile.  Reduce it to five lines that provide an overview of relevant skills.  Eliminate fluff. Remove the functional skills (patient education, process improvement, quality assurance, case management, etc.) and place those in a new section called "core competencies."  Organizing this valuable info will make it easier for the reader to see the value that Marcella offers at a glance.

Step Three:

Restructure the career history.  Extract the top seven achievements from the current "professional experience profile" and create a new section called, "highlights of career accomplishments."   Then create a section called work history, simply listing the employers, job titles, and dates.

The result will be a crisp, concise document with much greater impact.  If you need transforming your résumé, please write me.  I would be happy to help you create a new résumé as well as your cover letter.
