Résumé Help: Excellent English Skills Are Essential
If the reader notices numerous grammar errors and sentences that do not flow well, it will give the impression that the candidate does not have command of the English language. English is the predominant language in the United States. If a candidate cannot communicate in the language that the company uses in business, he will not be selected for an interview. Also, in some occupations safety can be an issue for non-English-speaking employees in an English-speaking operation.
There are other issues with this résumé, but the use of English is the issue that will likely disqualify this candidate. Don’t let yourself be disqualified so easily by sending a poorly written résumé. As a résumé writer, I see résumés written by clients born in the USA or elsewhere that are composed so poorly that they risk disqualification based on sub-standard English grammar. If you are unsure of your writing skills, hire a résumé writer or a proofreader. Only submit a résumé with excellent English grammar and punctuation.
