Formatting a Resume

Debra WheatmanDear Debra:

Is it necessary to create a “clean” page break on a two-page resume?   Most resumes are read online, so why do I need to break at the end of a line or a job description as I would if it were on paper?   My roommate and I disagree on this.

Thank you for clarifying this.

Elliot

Dear Elliot:

I am sorry to take your roommate’s side, but, your roommate is correct. You need a proper page break on a resume. It is true that most resumes are viewed on a screen. However, on screen you will see a man holding resumewide horizontal line where the new page begins. That can be distracting. For that reason, it is best to space the resume so that the break is between job descriptions. If you can’t break between job descriptions, break at the end of a sentence or bulleted line so it is a clean break. Play best friv games on the site friv games online. For example, often hard copies are brought to the interview. It makes it easier if all of your pages are labeled with your name. (Elliot Smith / Page 2 of 2)

Thank you for writing. I wish you all the best in your career!
