Explaining multiple job changes on your resume

Q: I have moved around more than I had hoped during my career. Some of the reasons are related to failing companies, and other reasons are related to relocation. I am not a job hopper, but the movement makes it look like I am not willing to make a commitment. How can I reflect on my résumé more stability?

A: Consider preparing a hybrid résumé to bring key achievements to the top of the page. The top third of the document will include your summary, core competency section and a key highlights section where you can include 7-8 bullets regarding the key achievements that you are most proud of from the various positions held. Make sure you reference where the work was completed so the reader can make a connection between the accomplishments and where you did the work. More importantly, you should reference the reasons for the movement in your cover letter; your reader will gain a quick understanding regarding your history.
