Bound by a confidentiality/non-disclosure agreement
Dear Deb:
I signed a confidentiality/non-disclosure agreement with my current employer. I am not allowed to share information about clients, value of client contracts, or products under development. That really limits how I can show accomplishments on my résumé. Is there a way around this?

Dear Lily:
It does limit you, however, you can still show accomplishments. For example, you may not be able to say you managed the General Motors account, but you can say that you managed the account for one of the largest automotive manufacturers in the world. You can say that three of your accounts were in the top 50 on the Fortune 500 list. If you cannot mention the value of your contracts or your sales figures, you can state your sales ranking within the company (top producer in the region out of 137 account executives) or by how much you surpassed your goals (surpassed goals by more than 23% for 4 consecutive years). All of those facts are very compelling and do not reveal any company secrets.
