Tamara Dowling earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Texas Christian University and holds the Certified Professional Résumé Writer designation. Prior to entering the field of career services, she was Vice President of Operations for HealthInsurance.com and Kelsey National Corporation. In 1999, Tamara shifted her career to launch a career services company.

As a résumé and career expert, Tamara has written over 100 career-related articles, which are published online, in career journals, in high school text books, and utilized in government and corporate training programs. In 2008, Tamara contributed to four career books. She has written thousands of résumés for executive, high-tech, and management clients, and she has served as a trainer and editor for a major Web-based career services company. In addition to three TORI (Toast of the Résumé Writing Industry) award nominations in 2008, she won a 1st place TORI in 2009 in the Creative Résumé category and a 3rd place TORI in the International Résumé category. In 2010, she was selected to judge the TORI awards submissions.
